Peoples Natural Gas Park
Completed in 2012, the Peoples Natural Gas Park is the home of many special events produced by the Johnstown Area Heritage Association (JAHA) and other organizations. The photos below spotlight the park during concerts. For photos of the park during the AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival, visit the photo galleries of each festival year, located under the “artists” tab in the main navigation.
The 3.5-acre park includes:
The Community Foundation Oilhouse. This former industrial building has been completely renovated. This two-level space (which includes a wheelchair lift) includes a small stage, restrooms that serve up to 700 comfortably, a green room, a fully-equipped catering kitchen, and an ATM. Capacity of the room is about 560. Acoustic panels have been added to the interior, greatly improving the sound quality inside. It features garage doors that open onto a concrete apron out into the park lawn.
The Polacek Pavilion. Adjacent to the Community Foundation Oilhouse, the pavilion includes a stage, stage lighting, small green room area, and can be set with up to 600 seats,.
Lawn area. The park’s extensive lawn area is fenced, landscaped and includes sidewalks throughout. This space can be left open, or can be used for vendors, portable toilets (if needed for larger crowds) and other activities. During the music festival, a large, temporary mainstage is placed in the lawn.
The park features a beautiful view of the Stone Bridge, a landmark of the 1889 Johnstown flood that is now lighted in colorful, animated LED lights.
