TOMORROW (3/25) is the lineup drop for the AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival 2025! Plan to hang out with us on social media, starting at 10:30 am -- we'll roll out one artist every 15 minutes, and early-bird passes will go on sale at 3:45 pm. Can't wait!

Our festival family is saying goodbye to our dear

Our festival family is saying goodbye to our dear friend and colleague, Vern Walker, who worked for the festival's producing organization, @heritagejohnstown, and was an integral part of our production team. (This lovely image, created by Marisa Lehman, is based on a photo of Vern and his wife, Karen, dancing at Peoples Natural Gas Park in summer 2023). He will be so missed.

Heritage Johnstown, which produces the festival, is mourning the sudden passing of Vern Walker, who had served as our CFO since April 2023. Vern, who had skills far beyond financial expertise, would enthusiastically jump in wherever he was needed, whether that was behind the bar at a busy concert, up on a ladder at a Peoples Natural Gas Park workday, or anywhere any one of us needed help with anything at all—always with a big smile and contagious can-do attitude. His loss is immeasurable, to our organization and to each of us personally.
Out of respect for our dear friend and colleague, there will be no activities at Heritage Johnstown facilities on Friday, Feb. 28 (museums will be closed, and there will be no Last Friday), which is the day of Vern’s memorial service. Our hearts go out to Vern’s beloved wife, Karen, and their children and grandchildren in this time of tremendous grief.

Did you watch the Grammys? We were pulling for Maggie Rose (2024, photo by Brian Hockensmith; 2021) to win for Best Americana Album, but that category was taken by Sierra Ferrell (as well as Best American Roots Song, Best Americana Performance, and Best American Roots Performance), who also appeared at our festival with her then-band, 600 Lbs of Sin, in 2011 and 2013). Ruthie Foster (2009) was a winner for Contemporary Blues Album, and Sue Foley (2019) was a nominee for Best Traditional Blues Album. Congrats to all!
