Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Free Summer Concerts are announced!

We are delighted to once again offer a strong slate of free summer concerts at Peoples Natural Gas Park! Thanks to the ongoing support of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, these three shows will be offered with free admission:

Sat., June 29: Gabe Stillman with special guest Stone Bridge Blues Band

Gabe Stillman and his band hit the stage in high gear as they embrace all corners of American Roots Music with their impromptu selection of original gems and carefully chosen covers. The band was a huge hit at the AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival 2023, and we are thrilled to welcome them back!

Since landing in the final 8 of the 35th Annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN, and further honored as the recipient of the Gibson Guitar Award, Gabe and his band have been focused on expanding their footprint on a national and international level. A graduate of Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Gabe’s honors include an invitation to support ZZ Top, Eric Gales, Blues Traveler, George Thorogood, and more; he was a Blues Music Award nominee in the Best New Emerging Artist Album category; and The Gabe Stillman Band was selected as the Best Blues Band at the 3rd Annual Central PA Music Awards and has been nominated in the category in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

The Stone Bridge Blues Band hails from Johnstown. For over a decade, they’ve been bringing their renditions of the Blues classics to audiences all over Central and Western PA, while staying true to the art form and to the Masters of American music that is the blues! Members Mike Borstnar, (Guitar/vocals) Brian Moore (Bass/Vocals) Rick Rhodes,(Harmonica) and John Mundy (Drums) bring a dynamic range of musicianship and fun that keeps things interesting on stage, as well as a steadfast love for the blues that audiences seem to love and you won’t want to miss.

Sat., July 6: Billy Price Band with special guest Miss Freddye’s Blues Band

Billy Price: A huge favorite in Johnstown, 2016 Blues Music Award (BMA) Winner and frequent BMA nominee Billy Price first attracted national attention during his three-year association with guitarist Roy Buchanan. Price is the vocalist on two of Buchanan’s LPs, That’s What I’m Here For and Live Stock. Since then, with the Keystone Rhythm Band, the Billy Price Band, and solo projects, Billy Price has recorded and released a total of 20 albums, CDs, and DVDs.

Price’s album This Time for Real, with the late Chicago soul singer Otis Clay, received a 2016 Blues Music Award in the category of best soul blues album. He received BMA nominations in 2019 (Reckoning) and 2020 (Dog Eat Dog) for best soul blues album, and in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024 for best male soul blues artist. He has also been nominated in 2024 for a BMA for Instrumentalist – Vocals.

The Billy Price Band, based in Billy’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., consists of Dave Dodd (drums), Tom Valentine (bass), Lenny Smith (guitar), Jim Britton (keyboards), Eric Spaulding (sax), and Joe Herndon (trumpet). They won the Pittsburgh City Paper Reader’s Poll in 2021 and 2022 as the top blues band in the city.

His latest recording, Person of Interest, will be released on the Little Village label on August 2, 2024.

Miss Freddye’s Blues Band: As Pittsburgh’s Lady Of Lady Of The Blues, Miss Freddye keeps the blues alive in her native hometown, She started singing in church at a young age. The influence of church and her mother’s love of the Blues gave Miss Freddye the beginning to venture in the world of Blues Music in 1996. She joined BMW(Blues Music Works) under the direction of Big AL Leavitt. In 2002, Miss Freddye formed her own band, “Blue Faze”. Several years later, she became Miss Freddye’s Blues Band and Miss Freddye’s Homecookin’ Band.

Fri, August 16: HABATAT and FlowerChild

Our festival afterparty show featuring a double bill of the region’s finest!

HABATAT: Established in early 2012, this funk-rock outfit has become veterans of the festival and live music circuit in Pittsburgh and tri-state area. HABATAT has shared stages with the Soul Rebels, Pink Talking Fish, Twiddle, the Heavy Pets, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and Joe Lewis Walker, among others. 2015 marked the band’s first EP release, the self-titled “HABATAT”, which was followed by “Homestead” in 2018. They played our festival in 2022 and 2015.

FlowerChild: Hailing from the Laurel Highlands of PA, FlowerChild celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2019 and continuesto bring the fire and good times to all who cross their path. Drawing their inspiration from the jam/funk music of the 60′ and 70’s, a FlowerChild show keeps the audience on their feet dancing.
