Johnstown does have a small airport. The closest major airport is Pittsburgh (about 2 hours), although Washington, D.C. and Baltimore are about 3 1/2 hours away by car.
By Train
Amtrak offers service to Johnstown. The railway station is downtown and is part of the festival grounds, and within walking distance of the two downtown hotels (the Holiday Inn Downtown and EconoLodge); see Accomodations for details.
